Hi! I’m Liza, the owner and founder of Handmade Heart, a small business in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2009 I learned to sew, and began crafting whatever I could. Items such as greeting cards, quilts, and even paintings I sold online as I worked through grad school in a small town with limited employment opportunities. This is how Handmade Heart was born.
Over time Handmade Heart has evolved based on my patrons interest, and as I learned new skills. I placed papercrafting on the back burner and now do it more as a personal hobby rather than for business. Sewing has remained my primary business focus though. Moving from quilts, to clothing, and now to what Handmade Heart is known for, bags.
What started out as a hobby that helped me make some money as I made my way through graduate school, has now become my full time love, and business. I want to specialize in gender neutral design that encourages everyone to express themselves and feel comfortable. Nothing I make you can find in your big box stores, every one of my bags are unique one of a kind pieces. Every person is an individual, why should our bags be any different.

When you can’t find me in my home sewing studio, I’m probably out at events throughout the area selling my items.
